Simple steps to stop spam

Internet marketing is a multibillion dollar industry. Dishonest internet marketers will do their best to get a fresh list of victims to send their spam email. The average computer user has had more than one instance where their inboxes are full of illegal advertisements. Black hat marketing campaigns will spend thousands of dollars on your favorite websites to find your email and other contact information. They put you on their spam list and study your demographics, and then they may try to sell you their products, even if you have no interest in buying them.

Fortunately, there are many ways to stop this annoying and unwarranted advertisement with a few simple steps.

How to stop spam:

1.) Look for websites with a full privacy policy and an approved spam-free logo. These websites will never sell your personal information to third party sources.

2.) If a website in question is not certified, use a secondary email account for registration to prevent spam from reaching your primary account.

3.) Stop spam by using an email provider with a good spam filter. Examples include Yahoo.com, Gmail.com, Hotmail.com, and other conventional email programs.

4.) Install anti-spam software on your web server if you run a POP3 email program outside of your own website.

5.) Perform regular scans for spyware and adware that sell your email and information to third-party companies.

These are just some of the ways you can stop inexperienced spammers and marketers; however, most marketers are smart and will have alternate email accounts send you emails even after you lock your primary accounts. Fortunately, there is a way to prevent emails being sent to secondary email accounts.

Use an email search website to find information on email addresses, including alternate and secondary accounts, as well as the IP addresses tied to the use of that email account.
