Guinness World Records The video game for Wii is seriously underrated and is a real barrel of laughter! This game includes 36 minigames perfect to play in multiplayer mode. From a health standpoint, many of the games make you ‘run’, ‘throw’, ‘push’, ‘pedal’ and more with Wiimote and Nunchuck, so there’s plenty of action that will get your heart pumping. There are also some really difficult precision games that require deft hand-eye coordination to break records. My favorite has to be the ‘Most Dominos Knocked Down’ record game! Read more about this below.
Today I want to share with you some instructions so that you can get the funniest action of the games. On-screen instructions are visual only and can be a bit confusing at times. So here’s a guide to my favorite minigames on Guinness World Records The Video game:
Innuendo: The minigames are grouped by location in groups of 3. The first game is free; the second game must be unlocked with 1000 points and the second game (usually the most fun) with 5000 points. To earn points, you will need to set high records in the ‘free’ games. If you get a ‘Guinness World Record’, you will generally be awarded more than 1000 points. Then, you will simply have to click on the game to unlock it. The game will tell you if you need to accumulate more points. Good luck breaking those records!
Minigames Group 1 FREE – Fastest time to shear 5 sheep. You will use the Wiimote as a thief of your shepherds to catch the sheep. Point at the screen, hover over a sheep, and press FOR to catch your sheep. Then your Wiimote will control an electric viewfinder. You will need to press FOR again and move the curtain over the sheep’s body to shave it. Quick tip – Try to hold the Wiimote at an angle to cover as much of the “wool” as you shave with the visor. Aim to shave each sheep with just three strokes.
UNLOCK 1000 POINTS – Land speed record. Hold the Wiimote horizontally. Tilt the Wiimote gently up and down to move your rocket from side to side as speed increases. The objective of the game is to avoid any obstacle that slows you down. This game seems easy at first, but as soon as the pace picks up, you will have more obstacles in your way! Do not crash!
UNLOCKING 5000 POINTS – The fastest time to push a truck 50 meters. Move the Wiimote and the Nunchuck at the same time as the on-screen arrows to get “knock power”. Try to get an “Excellent” or “Nice” popup on the screen. Then make your avatar run to the finish line by frantically moving the Nunchuck and Wiimote up and down in an alternating motion.
Minigames Group 2 FREE – Longest nails (Grose)! Use the Wiimote as a pointer to trace your nails along the wavy lines. This will make it grow later. Be careful not to go too fast or too slow, as the nails could break! You will get 5 tests, one for each finger and one for the thumb.
UNLOCK 1000 POINTS – Precision of paper airplanes. ‘Throw’ your paper plane forward by holding the Wiimote like a dart and making a forward jerking motion. Next, gently tilt the Wiimote from side to side and down to fit all three barrels.
Quick tip – The harder you ‘launch’ the paper plane with the Wiimote, the faster it goes. This is good if you can be really accurate with your goal. If not, try to cast it more gently to get started until you are a pro!
UNLOCKING 5000 POINTS – The fastest time to catch a ton of fish. I find this game easier to play if you hold the Nunchuck in your hand to type. ‘Throw’ your rod by moving the Wiimote forward. Then ‘hook’ your fish by jerking the Wiimote up when the on-screen diagram prompts you to do so. Next, roll up your fish by moving the Nunchuck around and around like you’re really wobbling! You will now see some arrows on the screen while you are winding your fish. This indicates the direction in which you should move your Wiimote while winding your fish with the Nunchuck. If you do it right, you will be able to catch your fish faster! Good luck!
Minigames Group 3 FREE – Most melons will mash within 1 minute. This is a really simple game, but a lot of fun! Just move the Wiimote down when you want your avatar to hit the Melons. Now you can see your avatar head banging the melons! The more melons you mash, the faster they will come, so be careful!
UNLOCK 1000 POINTS – Jump higher on a Pogo Stick. ‘Jump’ holding the Wiimote on its side with both hands as handlebars and swing the Wiimote up. You will need to jump at just the right time to get extra height. Watch for the arrows on the ground and try to jump when they turn green. Aim for an ‘Excellent’. Now repeat the jump in a pattern of 3 when prompted by the on-screen instructions and see where you land with the height gauge!
UNLOCKING 5000 POINTS – Most arrows caught in one minute. In this game, Wiimote and Nunchuck control their hands. Move the controllers left and right to catch the arrows as they fly towards you. It sounds easy, but it really isn’t. If an arrow misses, it will be penalized for a short time and the offensive hand will not move.
Quick tip – This game is all about time. To get the correct time, try looking at the bottom left and bottom right of the screen to “catch” the arrows at the right time.
Minigames Group 4 FREE – Highest video game score. Point your Wiimote at the screen and press FOR on your Wiimote to shoot the approaching ships.
UNLOCK 1000 POINTS – The fastest 100 m in a space hopper. ‘Jump’ by holding the Wiimote and Nunchuck upright and pulling up. Jump at the right time waiting until the arrows on the ground turn green. This will give you more speed if you get an ‘Excellent’! Go for that record!
UNLOCKING 5000 POINTS – Faster rocket. First, shake the Wiimote up and down to propel the rocket motors. Then press A on the Wiimote when the countdown reaches zero to launch the rocket. Now the Wiimote controls the hand. Click the colored buttons on the rockets’ control panel as they light up. Be quick or it’s game over!
Minigames Group 5 FREE – Highest BMX Jump. When the bike is on the ramp, pedal as fast as you can by moving the Wiimote and Nunchuck as if your hands were your feet on the pedals. Do a high jump with the BMX by moving the Wiimote and Nunchuck up when the bike comes off the ramp.
UNLOCK 1000 POINTS – The longest motorcycle jump. Hold the Wiimote and Nunchuck sideways in your hands as if you were holding the handles of a bicycle. Tilt the Wiimote sharply towards you when the bike’s engine revolutions reach the blue beam of the speedometer. Aim for “Excellent”. When the bike is in the air, move the Wiimote and Nunchuck up in rapid succession to keep the on-screen arrow in the center position. Now see how far you can go!
UNLOCKING 5000 POINTS – The fastest tightrope walk of 50 meters. Hold the Nunchuck in your left hand and the Wiimote in your right hand. Make sure your arms are extended so that the cable between the controllers is straight. This game is all about balance, so try to keep your Wiimote and Nunchuck as straight as possible to prevent your character from falling off the rope! Press Z on the Nunchuck and B on the Wiimote to move the avatars’ feet. Good luck!
Minigames Group 6 FREE – The longest balance of a vehicle in your head. This game is played only with the Wiimote. Hold your Wiimote horizontally and gently tilt it so your avatar balances the bus. Try to make small adjustments so you don’t lose control and get off the screen!
UNLOCK 1000 POINTS – Farthest throw of a cow slap. This game is played only with the Wiimote. Spin the cowpat around the avatar’s head in a lasoo motion with the Wiimote. Press B to drop the animal onto the field at just the right time.
UNLOCK 5000 POINTS – Most dominoes knocked down. This is definitely MY FAVORITE. This game is played only with Wiimote. Hold the Wiimote horizontally and tilt it from side to side to move down the track and knock down all the dominoes. press the D-pad gold 2 on the Wiimote when you run over them to knock the extra dominoes aside. Remember to press left or right as indicated on the hint.
