be in the zone

“Are you ‘Gellin’?” asks Dr. Scholl’s ad. Viewers are treated to images of actors smiling, dancing, and “feeling crazy good.” It’s a feeling that is portrayed and athletes call it “being in the zone.” More important is your group or do you have a pack of cats in your business?

Remember the summer of the 1969 Mets? They were “gelin”! That was his summer; they owned it and everyone in the US could feel it! Then there was the Boston Celtics in the ’70s – they owned basketball and everyone in the US knew it. Then the US Olympic Hockey Team in the 1980s, the Dallas Cowboys dynasty in the 1990s, and the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s. Great teams that still give us a lot to strive for today.

Movies like Miracle, Remember the Titans, We are Marshall, and Facing the Giants give insight into what it means to be a winning “team.” They all contain scenes of the “moment” when the Team “solidifies”, when they become a TEAM and when they absolutely know it’s their time to win. It’s about time, it’s about feeling and it’s about knowing. And when those three come together, the effect is electrically fast, galvanized, like a wave, and everyone nearby can see it, feel it, and be swept away by it.

Now, some might say that it was Tom Seaver, Larry Byrd, Michael Jordan or Emmet Smith who made the team great. While that may or may not be true, every one of those men has been quoted as saying it was the team that made them great. And the fact is that for every championship series, even the weakest player made millions… because he was part of a great TEAM… and his contribution, however small, made the team great.

There are a lot of really good network marketers who are able to recruit like crazy and/or sell products and that’s a good thing. On their journey, they might recruit a few people like themselves… lone wolves who have sparks of success and generate a good income.

Along the way, they’re likely to recruit a lot of average people who do a little bit each month…and that’s a good thing, too. Many of these really good network marketers are constantly striving for that “gellin” feeling… biding their time. And waiting and waiting and waiting.

The “secret” of really GREAT Network Marketers is the Team concept. Acronyms are a tired cliché and everyone knows when you have a team and when you don’t. It is a feeling, it is time and it is knowing.

The legends of our industry have attracted and created teams of like-minded people. They help their people to grow in their personal lives and become better citizens of the world. They welcome and lead with responsibility and accountability. As great coaches, they understand and know that every player on every play is important. They see people for what they could be and not for what they are. They have written game plans. And they believe; the more successful you are, the stronger your commitment to improve must be. The team, and more importantly, their achievements are what become legend.

You need to start a team, an organization or a business by clearly stating what you want to achieve. First, view your result, then write it down, and then take massive action. Careful preparation followed by repetition of basic skills always precedes great achievement.

If it is not written, it is not practiced, it is not happening. The difference can be seen every week across the United States at every football game. There will be “the moment” when the quarterback gets the look of the deer in the headlight or THE LOOK.

Which one do you have?
