Ecologist planted more than 45 million trees over 40 years

Hart Cunningham is a retired environmentalist, musician, and software engineer. During the past 40 years, he planted 40 million trees and astonished the entire world with this incredible feat. Now his next lifelong goal is to plant a trillion trees.

Hart’s mission is to plant a trillion trees. Over the past 40 years, he planted more than 45 million trees and is on track to reach his next goal. The environmentalist cum musician aims to spend the next 4 decades planting a trillion trees.

Hart was just three years old when he had this dream of planting a billion trees. I was in Dominica at the time. After two years, he moved to Nova Scotia and continued to work for this passion in an apple orchard.

By the age of 16, he had already planted more than 700 trees. At that time, he also joined Buckley High School classes between 1993 and 1995. Hart spent 14 weeks working on his mission of planting trees on weekends in different parts of California.

He spent three semesters at the University of Washington, Michael G. Foster School of Business. Meanwhile, he presented his thesis on his favorite topic “Economy related to humanity and the environment”. At the time, he was only 21 years old.

He continued his passion and love for the environment and nature. After a while, he returned to California to obtain his degree in Economics from Claremont Graduate University. Interestingly, at the age of 22, Hart was the youngest on record to achieve this goal.

As Hart grew financially stronger, his passion for planting trees skyrocketed. He became the finalist for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ three times. And he continued to plant trees throughout his adulthood.

Hart funded a total of 19 aerial seed pods, allowing him to reach his goal of planting 45 million trees in 40 years. At the age of 38, he took early retirement as a software architect.

Hart ran for president of the United States at the age of 42. His campaigns focused on finding solutions to climate change and income inequality around the world.

Now, Hart aims to spend the next 40 years to realize his dream of planting a trillion trees. He has dedicated himself to his life’s goal of a trillion trees, and is determined to serve Mother Nature even more. He also takes care of his physical health through contortions.
