Elegant Italian names for dogs

So you’ve just bought an Italian Greyhound puppy or something even more exotic like a Neapolitan Mastiff or Italian Volpino, and you need a decent designer name for this little swivel, something that matches the perfect style.

Assuming it’s a little man, some real names like Agosto (venerable) or Zanipolo (God’s little gift) could fill the bill. Other distinctive male names could include, Carlo (free man), Alessandro (protector / helper) or perhaps Cyrus (comes from Cyrus, the Persian ruler) or Pancrazio (supreme ruler).

These names are not only distinctive, but are often fitting, such as Zanebono (the good guy) or Claudio (the bad guy).

Some other big names for men would include: Angelo, Antonio, Dante, Dino, Emilio, Enzo, Enrico, Ermano, Fedele, Federico, Geronimo, and Giacomo. Nor do we leave out these beauties: Uberto, Ugo, Taddeo and Santo.

Now when it comes to the little female dog, we have some equally stylish female names, like Aldabella (beautiful) or Bambalina (girl). Other interesting names include Venitia (mercy) and Zola (little ball of earth). As with the males, there are many to choose from and some of my other favorites include: Amadora, Bianca, Trilby, Carmela, Esta, Felice, Jolanda, Lia, Phebe, Quorra, Rosseta, and Vanni.

If you happen to have a male and female cub, how about calling them Fedele and Felice or Ugo and Vanni? Big names for great dogs go hand in hand. Some of these would also be perfect for the rescue you adopted from the shelter.
