Lake Louise Ski Area

The resort, once known as Lake Louise Mountain Resort, is located in Banff National Park. The resort is located on the southern slopes of the Merlin Ridge of the Slate Range Mountains, offering some of the most majestic panoramic views in Canada. The base of the complex is bordered by the Pipestone River, which is a tributary of the Bow River. This proximity to these beautiful natural treasures makes for great spring and summer hiking and backpacking.

As for the skiing itself, Lake Louis has excellent facilities and state-of-the-art lifts to access the best in skiing and horseback riding. With 139 ski slopes – 25% marked for beginners, 45% for intermediate and 30% for advanced – there is something for all levels of skiers and riders. There’s a large terrain park for all the riders in your group and four full-service lodges to heat up and eat on the mountain. The base elevation of the mountain is 5,400 feet and it has a summit elevation of 8,652 feet offering a vertical change of 3,252 feet for alpine skiers. The resort receives about 15 feet of snow a year and covers nearly 4,200 acres of skiable terrain. 9 state-of-the-art elevators serve this area, with 3 surface elevators, one triple, one fixed-grip quad chair, 2 high-speed quads, a 6-passenger high-speed chair, and a gondola. The gondola is open year-round to see glaciers, natural springs, and sometimes wildlife like bears.

Whatever the time or reason for your Lake Louise vacation, something different and unique awaits you.
