Learning carpentry is not difficult, it is easy

There is nothing difficult about learning woodworking, in most cases, it just takes common sense to conquer woodworking. I am going to give you some key points about what it takes to learn carpentry easily and efficiently.

One of the first things I was taught in the carpentry shop is how to read a tape measure. Reading a tape measure is like the basics of woodworking. If you don’t know how to read it, you might want to start learning because a tape measure is the most common tool a carpenter uses.

Another fundamental in carpentry is the use of basic carpentry tools. Become familiar with the use of the hammer, utility knife, scissors, and speed square. These tools are the most used in carpentry. Some commonly used power tools are the chop saw, screw gun, drill, and circular saw. If you learn to use these tools fluently, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a master carpenter.

I graduated from two carpentry schools, one is the UBC carpentry school in Kenilworth, New Jersey. The other school I graduated from is the school of hard knocks. And even though I graduated I’m still learning. The key is to have an open mind and you will become a better carpenter.

Remember that you are in the learning stages of carpentry remember this old saying. The race is not given to the swift or the strong, but to the one who persevered to the end. In other words, keep transporting trucks and you will reach your goal.
