No matter how good-hearted you are, no matter how much you want to serve others, there will be people who will treat you like dirt and think you’re easy to push and stupid. They will bring you down; they will spread rumors about all of you in an effort to squash you. However, don’t let the misbehavior of others stop you from helping and serving others. Those may not be the people you will serve, but there are others in the world who are serving what you have to offer. That doesn’t mean that if you see people who are treating you badly in trouble on the street, you should walk past them. They are still human beings so help them and then keep your life moving.
A few years ago I remember I was helping someone and she turned to me and said, “Trudy-Ann, it’s because you’re too nice that people will always pick on you.” (She used a more colorful term that can’t be mentioned here.) “Help me here. Here I was helping her and I wasn’t even working and that’s the remark she made to me. It was then that I fully understood how an individual’s heart can become Naturally, I was very upset, not because I wanted to be appreciated, but because I saw the misery that exists in humanity.
Yes, my heart bleeds when I see humans being cruel to other human beings. To answer him I had to swallow the bile rising in me. I said, “My dear, do you see me suffering because I’m helping others? Do you see me lacking something? Do I live in a dilapidated house, walking around with a dirty head and a torn and worn diaper and clothes?” She replied, “No.” I told him that was because my life is “Blessed and Highly Favored.” I never heard from her until about eight months later. Yes, you guessed it. She needed another favor from me. This time I refused to help because I didn’t get good energy and I felt I had to protect my safety.
Personally, I can’t stand when someone doesn’t have food. I can’t sleep knowing someone is going to bed hungry. I know that when I help I am reaping the benefits of my abundance and accumulating more abundance for myself in The Universe. There are people who will keep coming to you because they know that no matter what happens, you will help them. They mistakenly take your kindness for weakness. They may be laughing at you behind your back talking about how stupid and weak you are. They may think that they are outdoing you and that you are an idiot for not acknowledging their motive.
What they don’t realize is that you see their motive, you see that they think they’re using you, but that’s none of your business. He is treating them like the human beings they are and not like something to be used and trampled on. They also don’t realize that what they mean as negative and destructive to you, you are using as something powerful and motivating to help you build yourself up so that you can become stronger emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Just because someone thinks they’re taking advantage of you, doesn’t mean they’re actually taking advantage of you. You know that no matter how much you help others, your abundance will never decrease. People may think they are taking something away from you and leaving you barren with nothing. They do not realize that their abundance in the Universe is eternal and endless. No earthly person can exhaust your abundance. No matter how much they think they’re taking from you, your basket of abundance keeps getting filled.
Years ago I was talking to a male acquaintance about my business and how much I was charging people. It became a source of contention between us because I found it difficult to charge for life lessons. Life lessons are free. I don’t believe in stealing people’s money to line my pockets. If someone needs help and doesn’t have the money to pay for it, they should still get the help.
Unfortunately, we live in a society where people have a “what’s in it for me” attitude. They do not seek to help others trusting that their reward will come. They will use someone’s “suffering” and manipulate it to make money off of those people so they can line their own pockets. Then they wonder why the world is so cold and that nothing is happening to them. I may never be filthy rich, however I will always be rich in abundance and universal blessings and we all will be when we help from the heart.
That is why we need to help others from our hearts and from a position of power. Helping others does not take away our abundance nor does it cost anything to help others. Now, that doesn’t mean you should sit there and let others treat you disgustingly. Command respect and others will know that they cannot and should not go through your shoes with you. Helping others does not mean that you should stand by and allow others to be rude and unpleasant to you.
There will be those who will refuse to respect your life and boundaries and you won’t be able to talk to them without being blamed for being too sensitive. The ones you need to get away from without malice. Then there are those people you can talk to about their behavior and they will apologize. The ones you don’t need to take off. They may go behind your back and talk about you, but as long as you don’t listen, don’t let them bother you or stop you from helping. Even if you hear it back, don’t let it stop you from helping. If you need to tell them something and you want to continue having them in your life, do it without malice. If not, then it’s okay to keep your life away from them. Don’t stop doing your job.
Not everyone has or believes in a spiritual level of life and thought, therefore, if you are living a spiritual life, you will be able to help others and give of yourself wholeheartedly. You will be able to see beyond the behavior of others and see that they have a good heart; they just got too caught up in desperation for money. Don’t hold it against them. Still show them kindness. That is what it means to help others from a position of power and not from a position of pain. Regardless of what others have done to you, said about you, don’t let that create hatred in your heart. You can get angry; you are human so feel your feelings. Just because you’re on a spiritual journey doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get angry. You are human, you have emotions and you have feelings. Get angry and then let go. That will prevent hate from building up in your heart.
Don’t let life make you so numb and jaded that you can no longer feel a thing when it comes to others treating other humans miserably. Never allow the behavior of others to make you insensitive to the plight of humanity. Always look for ways you can help others. Help until you can no longer help. When you are helping others, you don’t need to show others how you are helping. You have nothing to prove to humans. Work in conjunction with your Higher Self and you will always be guided to where your help is needed.
