NFL Odds 2010: NFL Betting Tips

I haven’t had much luck with the NFL office pools this year. I am practically in last place. There were a million formulas for choosing equipment. They all did badly. Watching the highlights of Sunday night’s soccer games, all my losses seemed to happen the same way. The team he had chosen would throw an interception and lose while the other team trailed back, also known as a pick-6. This has happened to the best of them this year, Tony Romo, Brett Favre, Drew Brees, and this week Jay Cutler was the victim of 4 interceptions to the same player.

My results this week were much better. What I did was investigate turnovers. It seemed strange to me that San Diego has the best offense and the best defense in the league, but for whatever reason it can’t win football games. Herein lies the answer … Rotations. San Diego has one of the highest turnover percentages in the league. Fight that with the New York Jets and you’ll soon understand why. The Jets versus the Chargers, as good as it sounds, is a pretty lopsided matchup. My record this week was 10 wins and 3 losses. With the upcoming week of fighting, I hope to reapply this theory. I see some underdogs who have a better turnover percentage than the favorite. If I was a true gambler, I would jump on all of this. You can also research and find the Hidden Jewels once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy.

For another football season, this may not have worked as well. But for me, seeing pure results is much easier than examining Turf vs. Grass or Home versus away. You can see the points for the average points of the points compared to the points allowed. However, that will only get you so far. Not to mention, I can tell you from experience that that formula only works less than 50 percent of the time. The ability to hold on to the ball is not something that needs a deep look and mathematical equations. The fact that a quarterback is more apt to throw to the wrong team or that the opposing team has the ability to catch and return an intercepted pass is pretty simple. And for that you can ask Brett Favre or Jay Cutler.

To prove my point, take a look at the Jets. Yes, they are a good team. However, in a Mark Sanchez vs. Drew Brees showdown, I’m sure many would have taken the opportunity to select Drew Brees or Tony Romo. The simple fact is that Mark Sánchez has given the ball to fewer teams and his team has the best record. His defense has done a better job intercepting unsuspecting quarterbacks and unsuspecting fans. Right now they are still the dominant team in the League.
