Palm Pre vs. iPhone

The showdown has officially begun. Both phones have caught the attention of all men, women and children who have a cell phone. The question now is whether the iPhone will reign supreme or whether the Palm Pre will take the cake.

For a time, before the release of the Palm Pre, Sprint heavily promoted the new phone. From TV commercials to web ads that seemed to be everywhere. So how well did the Palm Pre really perform? Sprint released a statement saying the Palm Pre has the highest weekend sales of any cell phone on our network to date. So overall, Sprint says the Palm Pre is the best. While the iPhone hasn’t been released yet, it has drawn attention for leaked images of “what the phone would look like,” of course, which were actual images of the phone itself.

Both phones are nice looking with fairly intuitive interfaces, both have minor gripes, nothing too big to stop people from buying either phone, so what are the biggest differences between the two?

The two biggest differences are the carriers and the company support. The iPhone has its infamous app store with a total of around 50,000 as of today. The app store alone drives people to buy the iPhone, and with the addition of new graphics capabilities, which allow for better interactive gaming, Palm will have a hard time keeping up. The Palm, on the other hand, has a better carrier. Now, for all the AT&T Cingular fans, I’m just saying this, because AT&T has to catch up in technology to bring all the capabilities of iPhone 3G to its users. iPhone users will have to wait for better connection and data services. Sprint, on the other hand, already offers 4G speed to its customers, which will deliver faster download speeds and may soon offer live video streaming, something Europeans already have and love. Last but not least, the price to upgrade to the new iPhone is extremely high. The lowest price to upgrade is $399.
