Prague – Most Wanted

Explore the famous monuments, museums and galleries in one of Europe’s most popular destinations, Prague. With plenty to keep you busy day or night, here are some of the attractions Prague is most sought after for.

The best place to feel the atmosphere of the city is Wenceslas Square. A place that played an important role in Prague’s past, a turning point in its modern history, from the Nazi occupation, the communist takeover and the velvet revolution, is now a major attraction due to its shops and cafes. A lovely place to take a break and enjoy a traditional Prague fried cheese sandwich. The Natural History Museum is just above the square for those interested in further exploring the country’s rich past.

The impressive medieval castle in Prague is an important symbol of the Czech Republic, old and new. Representing architectural styles throughout the ages, such as the 10th century Roman style to the 14th century Gothic style, the castle offers many interesting sights for the curious visitor. A composition of many palaces, some of the main attractions are the two Titans that frame the entrance, the chambers of the Czech royal family, and the Basilica of Saint George.

The biggest attraction inside Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral is a spiritual symbol of the Czech state. One of the most beautiful creations of the Gothic era, the interior of the cathedral features intricate decoration and stained glass windows. The secret coronation chamber of the King of the Holy Roman Empire is located within these facilities.

One of the most beautiful Neo-Renaissance structures in the city, the Rudolfinum is another embellishment on the banks of the Vltava River. The city’s famous music hall had been the stage for the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra for many decades. The Rudolfinum is also home to the Dvorak Hall, famous for its acoustics, and the Galerie Rudolfinum, an art gallery that focuses primarily on contemporary art. Acclaimed for its classical music concerts, the hall hosts several classical music concerts and exhibitions.

The magnificent gothic structure of the Charles Bridge spans the beautiful Vltava River that runs through the city of Prague. This famous landmark is adorned with giant stone statues of religious figures who are believed to bring good fortune to those who touch them. What is home to various artists and musicians during the day transforms into a dreamlike atmosphere at night offering views of the fairytale Prague Castle over the shimmering waters of the Vltava River.

For a modern experience among historic architecture, visit the Dancing House. A highly original piece of modern architecture, this structure was inspired by famous dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair. The glass and steel structure with its bold curvilinear outline dominates the banks of the Vltava River.

Filled with a variety of cafes, bars, and restaurants offering beer and traditional Czech food, Old Town Square sits right in the heart of Prague’s Old Town. Take a break from the busy sightseeing tour or simply spend the day admiring the view of the golden towers of the Gothic church in one direction and the ornate classical church in the other.
