Like other slider phones from Samsung, the Samsung Intensity SCH-U450 is a messaging phone that features Verizon Wireless for VZ navigation, V-cast music with Rhapsody. It is not a high-end product, but it is a great device that has a sophisticated design with basic multimedia features.
Design
The Intensity has a sleek, slim candy bar design with curved corners and a soft-touch matte plastic chassis that feels comfortable in your hands. It is compact and pocket-friendly, measuring just 4.25 inches long, 2.08 inches wide, and 0.65 inches thick.
On the front side, it has a 2.1-inch screen that has 262,000 colors and a resolution of 176×220 pixels. It is good enough to provide colorful animated graphics and icons. You can change the brightness, backlight time, clock, and other menus on the screen.
You’ll find the navigation matrix below the screen consisting of two softkeys (a dedicated speaker and a clear key) at the top with a round switch in the middle. With a large alphanumeric keyboard, you will feel comfortable typing and pressing the keys.
The full Qwerty keyboard is found when you slide the device to the right. The slider mechanism is sturdy and snaps securely into place when closing and opening. If you compare the Intensity to other Samsung Qwerty phones like the Rogue, the keyboard isn’t too wide or roomy, but it’s still responsive and comfortable since it’s raised above the surface.

The Samsung Intensity can store up to 1,000 phone books with space in each entry for multiple numbers. As a messaging phone, it supports mobile instant messaging, mobile email, chat, and text, as well as picture and voice messaging.
On the back, you find a 1.3-megapixel camera that lets you take photos in six resolution options: 1280×960, 1024×768, 640×480, 320×240, 160×120, and 129×96 pixels with 10x digital zoom. Photo quality is average, but it’s still clear, though you encounter little blurring.
For Internet connectivity, the Intensity SCH-U450 supports the CDMA 1xRTT data network using Verizon Wireless Services.
