Save dollars on beauty basics

“You don’t have to be rich to be beautiful”, where have we heard that before? Many women often spend too much on beauty products and it simply isn’t necessary.

Here are some tips to look glamorous and gorgeous without being rich.

The best way to save big money on the beauty essentials you love is to forget about names and labels. If you could read the ingredient labels on the $25.00 mascara and then the five dollar mascara, you’d probably see a nearly identical list. You could save twenty dollars on frequently used beauty items by ignoring the expensive label and choosing products labeled comparative, but inexpensive.

If you’re still shopping for the high-value labels to splurge, then you can spend that money on beauty essentials or specific needs. These would be items like foundation for sensitive skin or moisturizers for extra dry skin.

Having a professionally done manicure or pedicure at the salon is a real treat. Of course, if saving money is also an important goal, you might want to pamper yourself at home or with some of your friends. It’s okay to use the professionals once in a while, but you can do your own minor manicure and pedicure touch-ups and save a lot of money between splurges.

You can also save a few bucks by using your own home waxing kit. Doing your own home waxing is much more profitable than that biweekly trip to the salon.

What about those expensive haircuts? Of course, no one would suggest that you do your own haircuts and hairstyles, but you can have a really good beauty treatment on your hair for less money if you have a beauty school in your city.

Hair maintenance is also a huge money pit with the fluffing, curling and straightening products we spend money on. You can spend hundreds of dollars at the beauty salon or beauty supply store, but you really don’t have to. Finding great hair products to smooth hair or control frizz is in abundance at local retailers or drug stores and many have the same ingredients and work just as well as the expensive ones. You can spend a lot of money on hair maintenance products, but why would you? Thrifty products are just as good and smell just as good.

There are many ways to save a lot of money to look good. You don’t have to be rich to be beautiful, but you sure can look like you are and still pocket your savings.
