The history of the iPhone and its main differences

Probably one of the most sought-after mobile phones in the history of communications is the iPhone. It all started in 2005 with the development of the original model when Apple CEO Steve Jobs and his engineers turned their attention to touchscreens. The phone was developed in collaboration with AT&T Mobility and the total estimated cost, over 30 months, reached $ 150 million.

The first generation was officially unveiled on January 9, 2007 at Macworld 2007. It went on sale a couple of months later on June 29 in the United States and was later introduced in the United Kingdom, Germany and France in November of the same year. and in early 2008 in Austria and Ireland.

Just a year and a couple of months later, on June 11, 2008, Apple returned with the second generation of the iPhone, which was launched in 22 countries, including the original six here. The iPhone 3G was marketed prior to its discontinuation in more than 80 countries and territories.

On June 8, 2009, Apple announced the iPhone 3GS, the third model in the successful series, a phone that went on sale that same month in the United States, Canada and major European countries. Due to the reason why Main complained about the high price, Apple decided to continue making the 8GB version of 3G, selling it at a more affordable price.

The same thing happened when they launched the iPhone 4, as the 3GS continued to be produced and sold for less money. A few days ago, Apple announced that the fifth version of the iPhone will be released sometime in September this year.

Now let’s talk about the main differences between these four generations. The original had an aluminum rear, very different from the 2nd and 3rd generation, which featured a black hard plastic. Another big difference from the 1st generation model is its flat rear, as opposed to the rounded rear of subsequent generations. The original model was available in a single color: “silver” aluminum and three capacities: 4, 8 and 16 GB.

The iPhone 3G was the first model to come with a completely black plastic casing and was available in two colors: black or white, with a rounded back. The second generation was available in just two capacities: 8 and 16 GB. It looked practically identical to the 3GS, except for the text printed on the back. The 3G was printed in a light gray color, while the 3GS had a reflective silver and matched the Apple logo on top. For this reason, the case of a 3G works very well in a 3GS and vice versa.

The 3GS is still in production and is available in white or black plastic, with two different capacities: 16 or 32 GB. It is the first model in the series to support video recording, voice control, digital compass, along with Nike + iPod integration.

Lastly, the iPhone 4 comes in black (white is coming soon) and in two capacities: 16 or 32 GB. It has a redesigned case that is considerably thinner, with square edges and a glass back. Speaking of the rear, it sports a 5 MP camera that has an LED flash to its right. Also, the front camera allows users to chat via FaceTime. The latest generation also has a better 3.5-inch widescreen Retina display that has a higher resolution.
