Top attractions in Phuket

Phuket is known as the ‘Pearl of Andaman’ and is the largest of all the islands in Thailand. This highly sought after beach destination draws millions of visitors to its shores. Idyllic palm-fringed beaches, exciting water sports, and world-class spas are a magnet for vacationers who want to get away from it all. These are just some of the activities you can enjoy in Phuket.

Patong Beach: It is on this beach where the main action is concentrated. The beach has a lively social scene during the day complete with resorts, bars, restaurants and vendors and has a quaint European feel. Patong is also the main destination for the famous nightlife.

Phangan Bay: The first thing you’ll see in Phangan Bay is the impressive limestone karst rising vertically out of the waters. Day tours are available that allow you to get in and out of the caves that are home to a wide variety of marine life. Apart from the caves, the island is also known for its full moon parties. However, the rest of the time the island remains quiet and is perfect for those who want to find solace in nature.

Phuket FantaSea (Kamala Beach): The theme park is an interesting mix of myth, legend, creativity and imagination. There’s also some history thrown in for good measure. You can spend an interesting day watching the airborne antics of acrobats, flying elephants and mock battles. There is also an on-site bazaar serving one of the largest buffets in Asia.

Bangla Road Nightlife: Phuket’s nightlife needs no introduction. Some find it depraved while others find it exciting, but the fact is that neither is able to resist it. The real action starts around 9pm when someone lights a firework and then continues into the wee hours of the morning. The nightly action includes live entertainment, music, and everything else that adds to the chaotic yet exhilarating atmosphere. Those looking for something quieter won’t be disappointed either.

Big Buddha: The massive 45-meter-high statue of Lord Buddha stands on top of the Nakkerd Hills, between Kata Beach and Chalong. From the site you can enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of Phuket.

Phuket Old Town: The old town boasts a distinct Sino-colonial architecture and showcases the lives of the Chinese immigrants who came here more than 100 years ago to work in the tin mining industry. While you’re here, you can stroll along Thalang, Phang Nga, and Dibuk streets, as well as Soi Romani, an enriching experience.
