Using Self-Hypnosis for a Snowball Effect of Enhanced Determination

Here in the UK, despite being a relatively small country (compared to places like the US, China and Russia) we have a wide variety of weather conditions, and we discuss it a lot and with enthusiasm.

Yes, indeed, in Scotland and some parts of the north of the UK, they have a lot of snow whereas we have sunny days here on the south coast of England. Interesting stuff, huh?

We go crazy and get excited when it snows, but we don’t get as much as many other parts of the country each year.

I was hoping to use the fact that Eskimos have hundreds of words for snow in today’s blog post. Some serious research and googling highlighted the fact that this was a myth that I had fallen in love with and believed for several years. Why didn’t I apply a modicum of critical thinking to such a myth?

Despite this setback, snow is a useful metaphor for my purposes in this article. Snow comes in all shapes and sizes, although there aren’t really Inuit words for every type. Intrepid fundraiser and Blue Peter TV presenter (here on UK TV) Helen Skelton has been traveling the South Pole raising funds for Sport Relief with another heroic challenge.

The reason I bring this up is because in a recent interview that I heard her do from the South Pole, she said that it was difficult to ski as it had been for a while as the area was very dry and the snow was like icy powder that didn’t they were able to hold on while skiing over it.

We know those things, don’t we? The things that fall that need to be packed tightly in a gloved hand to form a proper snowball that we forcefully throw someone instead of turning into some sort of airborne dust when thrown.

So, the snow is going to be the metaphor and the basis of this self-hypnosis process that is here today and whose objective is to develop determination. People often refer to an event or phenomenon that “snowballs” when it gains momentum and the type of footage used on television shows how snowballs can start out small and then become massive. such force that, as they roll down the hill, they burst. away all obstacles.

Recently, a lot of people engaged me in a discussion about the difference between being motivated and determined.

Determination tends to be more about having a sense of purpose and providing a solution for an outcome of some kind. While motivation is usually the fuel that mobilizes us towards something more natural. Although intrinsic motivation (motivation from within, rather than extrinsic motivation being something external that drives us, like a monetary gain or congratulations, etc.) is very similar to determination.

I always think of determination as having a little more gritted teeth when it happens. It is much more conscious and purposeful. Sometimes it is a means to an end, while motivation sometimes tends to be seen as a more pleasurable experience.

Anyway, today we are going to determine ourselves. We are going to clench our teeth without the problems related to bruxism, and we are going to roll up our sleeves and we are going to go determinedly in the direction we want to go… Wherever and whatever it is for you.

So, ideally, get a notion in your mind as to what the focus of your determination will be. On what are you going to determine? What do you want to get determined to achieve or complete? Think about how you plan to exercise this determination. With that in mind, go into this process.

7 steps to increase your determination:

Step one: Induce Hypnosis. You can do it by any means you want or know of. Get involved in the moment, be absorbed by it and focus and allow your mind to be open and receptive. You can use your breathing, progressive relaxation, a mindfulness process, or any other process you know of.

Once you have induced hypnosis, move on to step two.

Second step: In your mind, using your own imagination in whatever way is most relevant and best for you, imagine some kind of high snow covered mountain or hill and you are on top. Take a look at the view around you, take a look at the air temperature and see the sights, listen to all the sounds and feel how good it feels to be free and in awe of a snow covered landscape all around you, breathing clean and invigorating air. noticing that there is a valley below you.

As you imagine this, allow the imagination and imagery to take you deeper into your mind.

Think about your own desired results, your own life, and what it is you want to achieve. That journey towards the desired result, that journey towards that goal has brought you to this high hill or mountain here and you are involved in it. Once you have a really vivid scene in front of you, move on to the next step.

Step three: Keep thinking about your result, that thing, you know what. What you want to achieve, your goal, your desired result. For whatever reason, maybe your progress has faltered, or you got stuck at a certain stage on the way to it, or you just give up or whatever, you are here at this point, on top of this mountain that represents your journey to the date. in relation to this that you want to achieve and be more determined than ever to make sure you go for it now…

Looking down the valley, he sees that along the side of the mountain are a variety of shapes and sizes of obstacles and barriers that represent whatever excuse, problem, or thing that he knows has been holding him back and impeding his progress toward his goal. aim. desired result. Look at them, see what they are, how they are, where they are placed and think about what they represent… All those things that have been holding you back.

But not anymore. Oh no.

With that vision and thought process firmly in mind, move on to the next step.

Step four:Get close to the ground where the snow is at your feet and around you and pick up the snow and see how powdery, light and fluffy it is in this form. This may well be representative of your efforts thus far in trying to achieve your desired result.

Now, though, notice how if you scoop enough into a large handful and compact it down with determination and positive intent, it can form a little snowball. Soak it in well and make it strong, like the strength you know you have deep inside of you. Pack it well and compact it so that it represents the powerful core of your potential determination that you are going to fully realize in your life very soon.

Make it tight and hard and round and be really assertive with it. Wrap it around your feet and begin to notice that the intention you have begins to ensure that more snow sticks to your snow globe. The snow attracts more snow and it starts to get bigger and stronger and develops. Roll it around until it’s about the size of a football and then roll it to the edge of the hilltop or mountainside and look down into the valley stretching out in front of you.

Think about how you want things to be in your life. Think about how you know you are more than capable of achieving anything you set your mind to. Think about the old obstacles that you want to let go of and overcome. With the snowball suspended like a cannonball ready to fire, move on to the next step.

step five: Now comes the fun. Reach deep inside your mind and gather all your strength, courage, steadfastness and make sure you know you are capable of this, then use all of that and push the snowball over the edge of the mountain as you watch it roll deeper and deeper. By the mountain. side there.

As you go further and further down, moving faster, tell yourself that you are going deeper into your mind and reaching deeper within yourself to that place of potential fulfillment and where change occurs.

Now watch the snowball get bigger and bigger, stronger and stronger and more powerful. What started out as his intention and the base of a small handmade snow globe is now a large snow globe gathering speed and momentum along the mountainside. Watch how you overcome obstructions, watch how you break through barriers with determination, watch how you move in the direction of your potential, in the direction of achievement.

As it gains momentum and pace, start to notice a sensation inside of you right now. Notice that somewhere inside you there is a slight sensation. Whatever it is and how it feels, start building and amplifying your determination. As the snowball grows and unfolds, let the feeling of determination within you amplify, exaggerate and grow, spreading throughout your entire being, filling your body and mind with a sense of purpose and a sense of knowing.

So you know you have what it takes. You know that very soon you will achieve what you want to achieve. You think about your next progressive action steps and what you plan to do with this determination as it grows within you.

Perhaps you imagine it as a color or a sound, or just let it grow as a distinct sensation that you develop and amplify as the snowball rolls down the mountainside, removing obstacles, obstructions, and barriers as it moves down the mountain. a different path to your desired result.

As it progresses, it becomes so powerful that it unleashes a full-blown avalanche and spreads like an undeniable and utterly compelling force through him, removing all last remnants of doubt. You go deeper into your mind and the rush only ends and reaches the bottom of the mountain when you are sure that you are filled with a level of determination that you know means you are going to act.

When that happens, enjoy it and then move on to the next step.

step six: Now you know that the path in front of you, which leads you to the desired result, is clear. There are no more barriers, no excuses, no doubts. You are filled with a sense of healthy determination that will ensure that you take decisive and assertive action in your life now. Start thinking of yourself moving with the momentum of that snowball and avalanche, progressing mightily toward your goal, that you remain undeniably strong and powerful, full of purpose and direction that cannot be stopped and that ensures you get what you want. achieve.

Tell yourself that you can do this and that you are doing it now. You take that action. You use your powerful determination and get things done and your goals become easier and easier to achieve.

With that sense of purpose installed, move on to the final step.

step seven:

There you go. Be determined. Stay motivated, go build that snowball effect in a positive way in your own life.
