ATT recently reduced the price of the iPhone 3GS to $49 for a new phone with a two-year contract.

In my opinion, by offering a cheap iPhone 3GS for sale, the popular mobile carrier is liquidating its stock to make room for new iPhone models and trying to sell as many as it can before Verizon can launch its model.

Verizon is rumored to announce the launch of its iPhone model on Tuesday, January 2. 11, so it’s no surprise that ATT is in a rush to get some of its products off the shelf.
