Line Dance Instructions: What Clothes Do Line Dancers Wear?

There are as many different styles of clothing that are used for line dancing as there are people who dance online.

When you’re watching a movie on TV and they show some people dancing in line, usually in some little cafe in the back, women usually wear skinny jeans, a belt, and a very tight shirt with the buttons open halfway. from the front! The men will be dressed in the same way, with their shirts buttoned up to the neck and sometimes one of those little ties, and they will almost always wear hats, even indoors. Of course, everyone will be wearing those nice big heavy boots they put on that morning to do their chores.

In Hawaii, the women who attended classes in which I took online dance instructions wore very short, wavy skirts, cropped tops or elegant fitted T-shirts, leggings or pantyhose, and line dance boots, which are much lighter than the ones. normal boots and have a smooth sole so you don’t get stuck on the dance floor. They almost always decorated their boots with a “boot bracelet”, on a single boot, that glowed when they danced.

Men, as a rule, dressed like men in movies. The “George Strait” look was very popular. Actually, so was the “Collin Raye” look, and one of our dancers won a Collin Raye mock contest.

Of course, being in Hawaii, there would be people showing up to class in shorts, tank tops, and “rubber slippers.” They would soon discover that this just didn’t work for line dancing. Sometimes they would just ditch their rubber slippers and try to dance barefoot, which was a little better, but they had to watch out for splinters on the hardwood floor. Made doing line dance steps a bit awkward. Most of them, if they came back for another class, they would at least bring the right boots!

Sometimes I wore a long, flowing skirt because I liked to dance to “Waltz Across Texas” to the beat of Collin Raye’s “Dreamin ‘My Dreams of You”, and I loved the way the skirt swirled when I spun!

When the dance team performed in public, in shopping malls, event parks or even PowWows, or in tourist resorts, they had costumes that they wore. Women’s blouses and men’s shirts would all be the same. Women would add short skirts, leggings and boots to their “look” and men would wear jeans and large belts, boots and hats. They all looked great and very professional. Many times when they performed, they had to pack a folding wooden floor because it was impossible to dance in grass or asphalt parking lots. They even took a large flatbed truck to a mall and danced over the crowd and then invited people for line dance instructions. It was always a lot of fun and clean!

No matter what they wore, everyone was always having a good time, and if the event was in a mall parking lot, we’d all go to Baskin Robbins afterward for ice cream!
