Internet Marketing Keyword Research Exposed

Welcome to my 4 part series on keyword research. In the first part we will discuss what a keyword is and several examples of each. In parts 2 and 3, we’ll talk about keyword tools, both free and paid services. To sum it all up, Part 4 is the Tips and Summary, where we talk a little bit about SEO and put it all together. This will help you discover a clearer understanding of what keywords are and their applications.

Part 1My secrets to choosing the right keywords

Exposing keyword research is an extremely touching topic for most internet marketers. Let’s face it, everyone who reads your information is considered a competitor. How many competitors do you know who are willing to expose their secrets to doing business? However, I say “the more the merrier”!

What are keywords? Keywords or keyword phrases are the actual words or word phrases that searchers type in when they start searching for their desire of the moment.

The quality of your traffic, websites, articles or videos is directly related to the diligence with which you performed keyword research. You can’t hope to attract buyers if you’re not in tune with what they’re looking for.

For example: If you’re selling a service or product, then you don’t want to attract those who are looking for “FREE” products or services. They will just waste each other’s time!

Yet another example:

Let’s take an extremely competitive keyword phrase, internet marketing. As I write this, Google tells me that there are 106,000,000 results for that phrase. That is an extreme amount of competition.

Now, let’s take a look at putting that phrase in quotes and searching again. Result-29,500,000. Using the quotes in the same phrase and clicking search again shows you the results of how many people typed this exact phrase when they searched, instead of the term Internet Marketing, without quotes, which gives you the results of all searches that INCLUDE Internet. Marketing.

Don’t be like some businesses that try to list keywords simply because of how they rank on Google. Again, what good is traffic if it’s not relevant traffic? Using non-relevant keywords that drive traffic to your content or site only annoys the search engine and gives you a spam reputation.

Remember: keywords are the tool that drives traffic directly to you. The more specific your keywords or keyword phrases are, the more likely your viewer will become a lead and then a sale. Simply because you are providing the content or opportunity that they are looking for.

We will talk about keyword research tools in my next 2 articles. Keep your eyes here at EzineArticles, and you’ll be among the first to see it.
